In 2016, Washington D.C.-based Allen Media Strategies asked Saltworks to design a new logo and develop a website for The Snow Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit and the single largest supporter of Wolfram Syndrome research in the world. Marketing challenges included a lack of awareness of Wolfram Syndrome and of the foundation itself. The existing logo do not include any reference to the disease that Snow was helping to find a cure for.
At Saltworks, we believed it was crucial to add the phrase “for Wolfram Syndrome Research” to the new logo design. The idea was to move the question in the minds of people in the target audience from “What is the Snow Foundation?” to the next logical question, “What is Wolfram Syndrome?”, saving valuable time in the education process.
To emphasize the Snow Foundation’s role in funding research, we designed the precise shape of the S element of the logo to symbolize a DNA-strand. The colors in the logo represent trust and confidence (blue), growth and hope (green), and dignity and creativity (purple).
The images we sourced for The Snow Foundation website were leveraged to captivate visitors and to provide visual emphasis for the “You can help ”call to action. Each section of the site includes the opportunity to “Learn about Wolfram Syndrome”, to get involved with the organization’s events, or to “Donate” to advance research. The simple, clean design of the site has helped redefine The Snow Foundation’s message and image. This design has garnered praise from many non-profits as an example of optimal architecture for delivering a key mission statement and increasing donations.
“Doug and his team at Saltworks are trusted partners who are terrific with client communication, on time delivery, and finished products that always exceed our expectations. We’re so grateful to have Saltworks in our arsenal of secret weapons to help make our clients shine.”
