The Project
Washington D.C.-based Allen Media Strategies asked Saltworks to develop a website to help promote Vinh Chung’s now highly-acclaimed memoir, Where The Wind Leads (Harper Collins). Vinh’s story is both amazing and inspiring. After the communist takeover of South Vietnam, Vinh’s family was forced to flee the country. In 1979, they joined the legendary “boat people” and almost perished at the hands of brutal pirates and violent seas. You can read the whole story here.
The Work
For the homepage, Saltworks incorporated video footage filmed from the point of view of being adrift in small boat in a rough ocean. This enables the viewer to experience a small part of Vinh’s family’s plight virtually. Click here to see this homepage experience. To continue the engagement, we added various touchpoints throughout the site for visitors to watch the book trailer as well as purchase the book online. The site also features a library of Vinh’s media appearances.
The Results
“Doug and his team at Saltworks are trusted partners who are terrific with client communication, on time delivery, and finished products that always exceed our expectations. We’re so grateful to have Saltworks in our arsenal of secret weapons to help make our clients shine.”
